The national and international publicity the web site engendered brought in donations from all around the world. Extracts from the web site were published in many national newspapers and magazines, as well as appearing regularly in the PetPlanet web site news section and email newsletter. Search Engine Positions It is extremely important to optimise the web site for search engines using careful design techniques and the correct keywords and phrases. It is impossible to guarantee a high ranking with any of the search engines unless you are prepared to pay a premium for a featured listing - and these are often ignored as irrelevant by the human searcher. To be noticed by the human searcher (the potential customer) the web site really needs to be listed within the first three pages of results.
